CV templates for the Netherlands (in English)
Many employers in the Netherlands, especially in tech, research and international companies, accept an English CV, and for international roles they often expect one. A Dutch-style CV is short and direct: one or two pages of A4, facts instead of big claims, your language skills clearly stated, and usually a motivation letter alongside it.
The templates below suit Dutch applications, including two with an optional photo, which is still fairly common on Dutch CVs. Every template works on A4. Edit free online, then download a PDF and an editable Word file, with a matching cover letter for your motivation letter.

What Dutch employers expect
- Length
- One to two pages of A4. Dutch recruiters value a CV that gets to the point.
- Direct and factual
- Dutch workplace culture is direct and modest. State what you did and the result, without exaggeration or buzzwords.
- Photo
- Optional. A professional photo is still fairly common on Dutch CVs, but many international employers don’t expect one. Leave it out if you are unsure.
- Personal details
- Date of birth and nationality used to be standard on Dutch CVs. Today they are optional, and many people leave them out. Equal treatment law means employers shouldn’t select on them.
- Languages
- List every language with your level, using the European scale (A1 to C2), for example “Dutch: B1”. Be honest; it will be tested at interview.
- Motivation letter
- Most applications expect a motivation letter explaining why you want this job at this employer. It often matters as much as the CV.
